TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi stressed the need for formation of an alliance for supporting the oppressed people of Palestine who are facing Israeli atrocities.

Speaking at a press conference with his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel, held in Tehran on Monday, Raeisi said it should comprise all like-minded countries in different continents, working to support the rights of Palestinians.

He referred to the Israeli atrocities in the Gaza Strip that have led to the martyrdom of more than 6,000 children and 4,000 women and destruction of homes and infrastructures, and said all nations have deplored these crimes.

He said the Zionist regime is engaged in genocide and crime against humanity in Palestine.

“In our talks with the respected president of Cuba, we underlined support for the people of Palestine,” Raeisi added.

What is more deplorable is the support for Zionist crimes by the West and the United States, he further said.

The Iranian president also criticized the incapacity of the international systems to stop these atrocities, saying the United Nations, the UN Security Council, the Arab League, and many of the world’s unions and human rights organizations have lost their function and efficiency.

“Today, humanity is witnessing the incompetency of global organizations that claim to be defending the oppressed.”

He added that Iran and Cuba share the view that the world’s unjust system must be replaced with a just one which would make it possible to defend the oppressed and prevent oppression and injustice.

The president of Cuba arrived in Iran earlier in the day in an official visit aimed at developing the ties between the two countries in different fields.
